UNIQUE SPEAKERS FOR A TAILOR-MADE EXPERIENCE
The Living speakers exemplify a perfect balance of cabinet, amplifier and drivers for optimum sound quality. When these components are designed for each other, the result is much greater than sum of the parts. It’s not possible to achieve this level of acoustic synergy in a conventional system of separate speakers and amplifiers. Add to this the chemistry of DSP, digital crossovers and a built-in wireless receiver and the result is extraordinary.
Optimised Design
A wireless transmission has advantages over cable because there are no impedance problems in the air. And the ability to specify and control every element in the audio path - amplifier, crossovers, drivers, cabinet and transmission – gives us the opportunity to fine tune the system to produce a much better sound than would be possible from similarly specified separates
The Living series amps are efficient, class D power amplifiers custom-designed for driving bridged speakers. The 8x oversampling combined with the fourth-order noise shaper in the integrated DSP provides a flat noise floor and excellent dynamics across the entire frequency range. Precision-trimmed digital crossovers contribute to an identical response from each speaker. This cannot be achieved using normal filters.
The amps’ DAP (Digital Audio Processor) uses noise-shaping and sophisticated error-correction algorithms to achieve high power efficiency and high performance audio reproduction. The DAP uses a fourth-order noise shaper that has >100dB SNR performance across the entire frequency range. The PWM section accepts 24-bits PCM from the DAP and outputs four PWM audio channels.
The performance advantage of active over passive loudspeakers is significant. Even a system, which incorporates the best available stand-alone power amplifier, will never achieve the performance of a similar active system. The reason is the precision of digital design.
DSP and Class D amplifier gives you:
1. A tailor-made frequency curve optimised for amplifier and drivers in both amplitude and time domain.
2. Perfect phase coherence.
3. Perfect crossover for ultra-low distortion.
4. Implementation of the latest discoveries in psychoacoustics.
